Browsing  through  a marketing  report,                                                                                                   I was informed that Croppedred lipstick sales are rising  as the’ lipstick index‘ is back.

The term was coined by Leonard Lauder – then-chairman of Estee Lauder – during the 2001 recession and treats lipstick sales  as an indicator of economic trouble : Women tend to turn to inexpensive indulgences  in times of austerity.

Moreover, Colour Psychology points out that Red being  the colour of fire and blood  is associated with energy, war, danger, strength, power, determination as well as passion, desire, and love.

No wonder Red lipstick, became a wartime essential,   boosting morale during  WW2!

No wonder Red lipstick  has become              the –affordable-   quick fix during these turbulent times.

So make your day and start wearing  your red lipstick  but  take it a step further and make somebody’s else day too:                           Choose  your Red Lipstick from a cruelty free/not tested on animals range.                         Luckily, there are numerous  cruelty free brands to suit every pocket.

And if you think that your single consciously sourced  red lipstick might be  too little  to make a difference, I’ll remind you of Dalai Lama’s  XIV quote:

“If you think you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping with a mosquito.”
