Ecoluxe London and Congo Fashion Week!

 

Congo is an amazing place!

That is what we found out during our participation in Congo Fashion Week.

Ecoluxe London was invited to talk about what they do during the two day event and By Stamo to show her work.

We just landed back to London after a 12 hour flight  but could not wait to share the news- so watch this space for pics of the amazing collections we saw, the  beautiful people that worked to make the first Congo Fashion Week a success and all the gossip from the event!

 Chocolate moose (Quick &Easy  Version)

Ingredients:      1 Moose ( medium)

                         572 milk  chocolate  bars

88   kilos  of  nuts  according  to   your  taste

       Cut Moose into  small bite sized  pieces. This  should  take  only  about  one and a half months.

       Use  bain-marie to  melt  the chocolate  bars over slow fire. Time  estimated  about  3 weeks.

       Meanwhile, to  save  time,  grate  the  nuts  finely.

       Dip  one by one each   moose – piece   into the  melted  chocolate  and  then  roll  it  into  the 

       finely grated nuts.   Estimated  time  around 2 days. 

        Chill.   ( Makes  about 3.800 servings)

 Chef’s  tip :   For  a really, truly memorable  meal,   serve  without  dressing……. 😉

Spring/Summer 2013 sees inspiration being taken from Russia, and more specifically Russian dolls. The idea of bags that have a multi-functional purpose, bags inside bags that can detached and used separately or designs that silhouettes that can be changed to be worn in an alternative way.

Softly structured bags are complimented by the interesting use of experimental fabric manipulation by combining textures, patterns and different types of materials into the designs. The signature style of recycling is evident throughout, giving materials a second life making these more attractive than their original form through careful consideration of placement and attention to detailing and finishes.

The shapes are simple and classic but the key aspect of the range is the combining of textures & patterns into designs with functionality. Textile techniques such as leather edge piping, smocking and rouching are teamed with clean-cut silhouettes. The styles are angular in design, looks with geometric cuts and bold statement patterns. Leather is worked with incisions and perforations, combining polka dots and strips and different textures all in one style. Hues of black, white, grey and navy are to the forefront but are subtly accompanied by touches of small accent colour in detailing and contrast straps.

Casa Kiro Joyas showcasing it’s oneiric and unique accessories at Ecoluxe London September 2012. Vania Ruiz is continually exploring and using unconventional natural Chilean materials to bring forth the various collections. Vania attempts to rescue domestic raw materials such as seaweed, goat horn, wool and value them in new contexts that eventually became a part of the palette. The play of reflection and transparency with minimum elements and small tricks in the structure and composure of the elements in the resin makes each piece a work of art in different scales.
